In the year following an eight-cent increase in the federal tax on a pack of cigarettes, sales of cigarettes fell ten percent.  In contrast, in the year prior to the tax increase, sales had fallen one percent.  The volume of cigarette sales is therefore strongly related to the after-tax price of a pack of cigarettes.

Archaeologists in Michigan have excavated a Native American camp near Dumaw Creek.  Radiocarbon dating of animal bones found at the site indicates that the camp dates from some time between 1605 and 1755.  However, the camp probably dates to no later than 1630, since no European trade goods were found at the site, and European traders were active in the region from the 1620's onward.

Which of the following, if true, most strengthens the argument?

Paint on a new airliner is usually applied in two stages: first, a coat of primer, and then a top coat. A new process requires no primer, but instead uses two layers of the same newly developed coating, with each layer of the new coating having the same thickness and weight as a traditional top coat. Using the new process instead of the old process increases the price of a new aircraft considerably.
Which of the following, if true, most strongly indicates that it is in an airline's long-term economic interest to purchase new airliners painted using the new process rather than the old process?
但是B选项中说的是 a layer of ,题目给的是new process uses two layers,所以a layer of primer 和 two layers of coating 对于capacity的影响觉得没有办法比较?E觉得可以节省设备的费用。

The greatest road system built in the Americas prior to the arrival of Christopher Columbus was the Incan highway, which, over 2,500 miles long and extending from northern Ecuador through Peru to Southern Chile.
我理解的是the greatest road system和the incan highway作同位语,which后面是was,结构是不缺成分的,是这样吗?

后面的that指代谁呢,是a herbaceous plant还是milky sap呢?

According to United States census data, while there was about one-third of mothers with young children working outside the home in 1975, in 2000,almost two-thirds of those mothers were employed outside the home.
