In the year following an eight-cent increase in the federal tax on a pack of cigarettes, sales of cigarettes fell ten percent.  In contrast, in the year prior to the tax increase, sales had fallen one percent.  The volume of cigarette sales is therefore strongly related to the after-tax price of a pack of cigarettes.

然后c我排除的原因是that which had been时态不对,d it has been这里面的it指的是前面的the growth of the global economy between 1990 and 2000, E名词和主谓比不对等。

Driving the steep road to the mountaintop Inca ruins of Machu Picchu is potentially dangerous and hiking there is difficult.  Now the Peruvian government is installing a cable car that will make access much easier, and hence result in a large increase in tourism.  However, since the presence of large numbers of tourists tends to accelerate the deterioration of a site, installation of the cable car is certain to result in harm to the ruins.

Which of the following, if true, most seriously calls into question the argument?

Q 865虽然正确选项B可以通过其他考点排除,但是'overcompensating,growing'为啥不好呢,growing an extra one or two不能作overcompensating的补充解释吗,这里有必须选and不选doing,doing的理由吗?

The Acoma and Hopi are probably the two oldest surviving Pueblo communities, both dating back at least a thousand years.
之前您在语法基础课中讲过 each 、every、each of 后面V的单复数使用有3种情况:1) each/every 作主语,V用单数;2)each在主语后面作同位语,V 跟主语单复数一致;3)each of+复数名词作主语,V用单数。 我发现自己对这类句型,尤其是 each/ the one / the only one of +从句,我对从句中V的单复数判断不太好。 The Acoma and Hopi are probably the two oldest surviving Pueblo communities, each one of which date back ate least a thousand years. He is one of the students who are never late. He is the only one of the students who is never late.

After increasing steadily for centuries, the total annual catch of all wild fish peaked in 1989; since that time, the total catch for most species has declined or plateaued, prompting conservation efforts designed to help prevent population crashes and possible extinctions.
2)designed to 表旨在、为了,过去分词表被动? prompting conservation efforts (that)designed to help prevent population crashes and possible extinctions.
